Changing air filter – Ducati DesertX

OK, we all know Ducati made awesome bikes and DesertX is one of them. And the bike has quite great success. have and I’m in love, the bike is amazing and can be handled with ease.

So when the bike was announced, the first thing I thought about was where would I take this bike for adventure first? And obvious answer for me was the desert. So with one of my friends we went to 10 days trip to Morocco and to Sahara desert following the old Dakar tracks. And it was amazing.

One I returned home, the big question I had in mind was; how dose the air filter look after almost 5000km of dirt track rides?

The easiest could’ve been to take the bike to the dealer and let him change the air filter as recommended by the user maintenance book. Hell, this is a adventure bike, I should be able to do it. So I started looking on the Internet how to do it and there was a lot noise and complaining about how Ducati messed-up.

Let’s be honest, YES! it’s way too complicated that it “should” or could be; it is wey too harder than on my KTM 690 Enduro R. But is it impossible or is it that painful to do it on your own?

I needed to try it and make my opinion. So, I did it and I’m no mechanic; I do not have even a proper garage; I’m using shared parking and free parking slots.

You know what, it can be done!

I made a video showing the process, struggles, and how much dust and sand I brought back from desert 🀣
